First-Person Video Contributor Program

1Overview

As a contributor, you'll be paid to record first-person (POV) footage of everyday household and work activities to help train robotics and AI models. This includes daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, picking up groceries, painting, folding clothes, organizing rooms, using tools, yard work, or light repair work around the home, outside, or in a workshop.

Recordings must clearly show your field of view, hands, and the task/actions you're performing. If you have multiple cameras, you can add simultaneous third-person tripod angles while keeping your POV camera active for higher pay (refer to the tiers in the Compensation and Payout section). As a general rule of thumb, try to keep recordings at least 20 minutes long.

2Camera Setup & Recording Guidelines

Equipment Requirements

  • Primary POV camera must be head-mounted (neck-mounted is not permitted), capturing audio and showing both hands and workspace clearly.

  • No handheld recording — the main camera must always be worn or mounted.

3What to Record

We're looking for quality-activity moments where your hands and body are actively interacting with the environment or you're using tools. Focus on natural, everyday activities with clear physical movements and object manipulation — avoid overly precise, fine-grained tasks like scrolling through a phone, doing digital art, or other activities requiring detailed finger movements on screens or precise digital interfaces.

Acceptable Examples

• Cooking or food prep

• Cleaning surfaces

• Folding laundry

• Organizing rooms

• Yard work

• Painting

• Repairs

• Stocking shelves or groceries

• Playing board games

• Workshop or craft tasks

Not Acceptable

• Watching TV

• Sitting idle

• Dark or blurry footage

• Obstructed or out-of-frame hands

• Scrolling on phone or tablets

• Digital art or precise touchscreen work

• Fine-grained typing or mouse work

• Other overly detailed digital interface tasks

Prohibited Content & Exclusivity

The following content will not be accepted and must not be uploaded:

Previously licensed or supplied content

Any footage that has been sold, licensed, submitted, or otherwise made available to any other company, platform, dataset provider, marketplace, or individual.

Third-party or non-original material

Public datasets, stock/library media, internet/YouTube/social downloads, or footage recorded by someone else. AI-generated/synthetic or upscaled media presented as real capture.

Unlawful or non-compliant material

Illegal activities, dangerous conduct, or content recorded where recording is prohibited. Audio recorded without required consent. Medical/PHI, financial/identity data, confidential workplace information, trade secrets, or restricted areas without written authorization.

Privacy, release, and de-identification failures

Identifiable people, brands, signage, property, or uniforms without valid permission/releases or complete de-identification (blur/mute). Minors without prior written approval and verified guardian consent.

Technical or integrity violations

Malware or harmful files; re-encoded/altered masters; obscured metadata. Dark/blurry/obstructed footage or POV where hands/work surface are not clearly visible.

4Recording Process

Starting a Session

  1. 1Say the date and time aloud on camera.
  2. 2Say the phrase "Beginning recording for Sureform" 3 times.
  3. 3(If using tripods) Face a tripod camera and perform a "1-2-3 clap."
  4. 4(If using tripods) Slowly pan the workspace once before starting.
  5. 5Begin your task or activities and keep recording continuously.

Note: If any camera stops during the session (battery or storage), restart it and perform another "1-2-3 clap" so the files stay aligned.

5Uploading & File Organization

All recordings must be uploaded through Sureform's Contributor Portal, which serves as your secure drop point for video submissions. You must create an account and get verified at https://contributor.sureformhq.com/ to upload recordings.

Quality Review & Acceptance

All footage is manually reviewed by Sureform to confirm:

  • Technical quality (resolution, stability, lighting, framing)
  • Activity level (no idle time)
  • Compliance with consent, location, and content requirements

The Sureform team will review each upload that you submit and notify you via email and via our contributor portal how many minutes of footage were accepted for that upload.

Compensation & Payment (Based on accepted footage)

$30/hr
Tier A: POV Only
$0.50 per minute of accepted footage
$50/hr
Tier B: POV + Tripods (Offered Selectively)
~$0.83 per minute of accepted footage

Payment is calculated based on accepted, quality activity minutes only. Payments are issued through Sureform's contractor system (ACH / wire / PayPal / Wise) within one week of footage being accepted.

Before your first payout: You will be required to complete a W-9 form (U.S. contributors) or W-8BEN form (non-U.S. contributors) and submit your payment details through Gusto, Sureform's contractor payment system. Once onboarding in Gusto is complete, payments will be automatically initiated within a week of when the footage is accepted.
